In my quest for better mental well being, I’ve had to address the fact that art still calls to me. Do you have something that nags at you? Something that you put aside years ago because you feel you’re too busy? For me it’s art.

Blogging is my passion but my first love was always drawing and painting. When I left school I put my urges to create art to one side however I’ve recently realised that it’s important to scratch that itch whenever I can. Otherwise, I find myself surpressing that feeling and I end up feeling worse and anxious. There’s a direct correlation between how I feel and the amount of creativity I allow myself to do on a consistent basis.

I began to create mindfulness colouring sheets and other colouring pages as a way to satisfy that urge with the double hope that other people would find them useful too. Now, they are another creative outlet on my blog and others have been downloading and enjoying which is exciting.

If you’d like, you can download your free mindfulness colouring pages here. Included in this download are 5 mindful mandalas, hand-drawn by me with love.

As far as I can tell, there are not many colouring pages like these online as well as my other creations including mindful colouring pages for kids and my new self-care colouring pages.

Colouring for art therapy

Whilst art therapy is more about growth and empowerment and goes a lot deeper than just colouring, I think there’s still a lot of benefit in colouring for your mind. It has been shown to reduce stress but more importantly for me, it gets my creative juices flowing and gets me into a flow state of creativity.

Even if you don’t see yourself as a creative person, there’s something calming about re-engaging with your child-like self and devoting some time to something so simple yet rewarding. I believe this is why adult colouring has become so popular in recent years because people are starting to realise this.

There’s also a great feeling of satisfaction when you complete an intricate colouring page. I think this is why I’ve been drawn back towards drawing and colouring recently. Whatever that thing is for you, the creative urge never really leaves you.

Hopefully, you can get this feeling of satisfaction and completion by colouring my free mindfulness colouring sheets.

Download them here and you’ll receive 5 free mandala colouring pages.
